Corporate Social Responsibility

We take CSR very seriously. We've spent a lot of time and resources developing our ideas in this area. And we will invest the same amount in making them a reality.

We have a vision about what transport should be like come the year 2020, and it involves an enormous increase in public transport. Well we would say that wouldn't we? But our plan makes a lot of sense environmentally as well as commercially.

Coaches and buses are low-carbon transport options and it's our plan to put them at the heart of an intelligent, forward-thinking transport strategy. Here are just some of the highlights:

  • Coaches are the best low carbon way to travel long distances, so if we can tempt people out of their cars more often, we can reduce CO2 emissions and general pollution.
  • You are ten times safer on a coach than in a car, so we can reduce accidents.
  • A full coach removes a mile of traffic from the roads - just think of the reduction in congestion.
  • Our city centres are getting ever more crowded. If we can continue to improve customers' experiences of bus travel, we can make travelling in urban areas quicker, safer and cleaner. We're looking at hybrid fuels, biofuels and fuel cell technology to replace diesel and reduce our carbon footprint still further.
  • And it's not just about fuel. We're exploring the use of e-tickets and mobile tickets for bus travel, while looking to power our stations using renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind-power.
