Birmingham station goes green
Friday, October 22, 2010
Our new Birmingham coach station has already gone down a storm
with our customers. Now it's also been awarded an 'Excellent'
rating under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method - the most
widely used system for judging how environmentally friendly a
building is.
Lots of recycled materials were used in the build. Now it's up
and running, rainwater is harvested and used to flush the toilets
and there's energy efficient lighting. What's more, the design,
with a fully glazed concourse, means there's less need for lights
in the first place.
As a final touch, we haven't put a car park for our people at
the site - but we've given them all free public transport, to help
make everyone's journey to work more environmentally friendly.
