New technology saves fuel

Here at National Express, we're introducing innovative new technology to our fleet of coaches.

The in-cab system constantly monitors the effect of g-force on customers while the vehicle is accelerating or breaking. A dashboard mounted device then flashes a red, amber or green light to the driver according to their current driving standards.

The device will help our Coach Drivers change their driving style to reduce both fuel consumption and carbon emissions. So it's good for business - and for the environment.

When it was trialled by our people in the North West, the system helped produce fuel savings of over 8%, so we're really excited about the difference it will make when it's rolled out nationally.
